(Fiber Reinforced Plastic – Corrugated/Flat Profile)

FRP roofing is popular for industrial, agricultural, and residential applications due to its lightweight, durability, and light transmission. Proper installation ensures weatherproofing, longevity, and structural integrity.

📌 Pre-Installation Requirements

1. Tools & Materials Needed

✔ FRP sheets (correct thickness & transparency)
✔ Supporting structure (wood/metal purlins, properly spaced)
✔ Roofing screws/washers (stainless steel or galvanized, EPDM-sealed)
✔ Silicone sealant (for overlaps & edges)
✔ Drill, screwdriver, measuring tape, chalk line
✔ Safety gear (gloves, harness, non-slip shoes)

2. Roof Frame Preparation

  • Ensure purlins are straight, level, and properly spaced (typically 24–36 inches apart, depending on sheet thickness).

  • Install breathable underlayment (if required for condensation control).

🔧 Step-by-Step Installation

1. Measure & Align Sheets

  • Overhang: Leave 6–12 inches at the eaves for proper water runoff.

  • Side Lap: Overlap sheets by 1–2 corrugations (prevents leaks).

  • End Lap: Overlap sheets 6–12 inches (longer for low-slope roofs).

2. Secure the First Sheet

  • Place the first sheet at the lower corner of the roof.

  • Pre-drill holes (if needed) to avoid cracking.

  • Fasten with roofing screws + EPDM washers at every corrugation crest (or as per manufacturer’s guidelines).

3. Install Subsequent Sheets

  • Align the next sheet overlapping the previous one (side & end laps).

  • Seal overlaps with silicone or butyl tape for waterproofing.

  • Screw down securely, avoiding over-tightening (can warp sheets).

4. Cutting & Trimming

  • Use a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade or a FRP scoring knife.

  • Deburr edges to prevent cracks.

5. Ridge & Edge Finishing

  • Install ridge caps (pre-formed FRP or metal) for a sealed finish.

  • Seal all edges with high-quality silicone sealant.

⚠️ Critical Dos & Don’ts

✔ DO:

  • Install in moderate weather (avoid extreme heat/cold).

  • Follow manufacturer’s screw spacing (usually 12–24 inches).

  • Use UV-resistant sealant for long-term durability.

❌ DON’T:

  • Walk directly on unsupported sheets (use crawl boards).

  • Over-tighten screws (causes stress cracks).

  • Mix different FRP brands (may have varying expansion rates).
